SNEWS® Live: Adventurer and writer Jon Bowermaster has been bringing back stories from remote corners of the world for over 20 years. He’s written eight books and countless articles. He’s also documented a number of his expeditions in films.

Whether he’s dogsledding across Antarctica or sea kayaking on a South Pacific atoll, Bowermaster never loses his eye for detail or spirit of adventure. He immerses himself in the region’s history and culture, making each of his trips a learning experience both for him and his audience.

Since 1999, Bowermaster has been working on a project sponsored by the National Geographic Expeditions Council called “Oceans 8,” sea kayaking to some of the most remote locations on the planet.

Bowermaster estimates that he’s paddled about 3,000 miles, visiting places such as the Southern Pacific, Vietnam, Gabon, Tasmania, Croatia, and the high plains of Chile. He’s completed seven of the eight expeditions and is planning a trip to Antarctica later this year.
