SNEWS® Live: For more than 100 years, the American Alpine Club has been the leading advocate in support of the needs of climbers from across the country. Based in Golden, Colo., the AAC offers many valuable resources that preserve the history and heritage of alpinism in the United States, as well as paving the way for new generations of climbers.
At the 2007 AAC annual meeting held in Bend, Ore., a distinguished crowd of club members gathered. Noted attendees were Allen Steck, Royal Robbins, Yvon Chouinard, Conrad Anker, Lynn Hill, Tommy Caldwell and Beth Rodden. SNEWS® Live sat down with the club’s executive director Phil Powers to talk about the event and to share his vision for growth of the AAC in the years to come.
