Health+Fitness Business Expo

SNEWS® Live: The 2007 Health & Fitness Business Show in Denver, Colo., got off to a thought-provoking start on Aug. 2. The keynote speaker kicking off the first show day was economist Paul Zane Pilzer, author of the best-selling book, “The Wellness Revolution.” The former economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan has put forth a compelling argument for a direct relation between market forces of the U.S. economy and the current health care crisis.

In his new book “The New Wellness Revolution,” Pilzer lays out what he portrays as an economic climate that offers fitness industry professionals a golden opportunity to claim vast shares of an emerging market. As baby boomers begin to creep into their retirement years many are eager to ward off the ill effects of aging and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. With the right business direction – stressing wellness with fitness being a part of the bigger picture, fitness specialty could ride the wave to the next trillion-dollar business.

Pilzer sat down after his keynote with SNEWS® Live for a personal interview at our pressroom on the show floor.
