SNEWS® Live: Outdoor Retailer Summer Market got off to a fine start this year. The Open Air Demo (click here to read the full SNEWS report published August 15 ) was held at the Pineview Reservoir in Ogden, Utah, about an hour from Summer Market’s home at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. Moved slightly to a new location, the demo welcomed more than your typical outdoor gear makers to show off their latest products. A variety of new categories were on display ranging from trail running shoes to sports apparel.
This year show organizers pulled out all the stops on the fun meter. The venue included the addition of a whitewater boating component, as well as rock climbing. The Open Air Demo was an all-inclusive event, touching many product categories throughout the industry that usually are on display only at the four-day booth show.
But the big draw, of course, was the slew of canoe and kayak vendors that generated a huge flotilla of energy and excitement. SNEWS® Live was on the scene to bring you this report.
