SNEWS® Live: The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition awarded Carolyn Cooke the 2007 Pioneering Woman Award during Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, Utah. Cooke is the president and CEO of Isis, a women’s performance apparel line, and was recognized as an industry leader and mentor of women. Cooke’s contributions to the outdoor recreation business, her company’s creation of functional yet fashionable clothing for women, and her mentoring of female colleagues have gone a long way toward advancing gender equity in a highly competitive, male-dominated market.
Working her way up from the retail floor to head her own company, Cooke is a shining example of what anyone can accomplish when they set their sights on a dream. SNEWS® spoke with Cooke at the Isis booth during a rare slow moment during the Outdoor Retailer trade show.
