SNEWS® Live: One of the most recognizable names in the modern era of exploration is Cousteau. From 1966 to 1976, TV audiences were dazzled by the images they saw on the top-rated show “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.” Abroad the ship Calypso, which sailed the globe for more than four decades, Jacques Cousteau’s work in underwater photography inspired a generation who would become the life scientists and environmental activists of today.

Now in the 21st century, his grandson, Fabien Cousteau, carries on the family tradition. Leading expeditions to some of the most remote corners of the world, Fabien Cousteau is seeking out and documenting the effect human activity is playing on the wildlife of both the sea and the land. With a new mission, this Cousteau is working toward the preservation of the wonderful world his grandfather helped us to discover.

At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Fabien Cousteau spoke with SNEWS® Live at the Samsonite OutLab booth to share his stories and observations of his most recent adventures.
