SNEWS LLC is thrilled to announce that Scott Mathews has joined the GearTrends® team as an account manager. Some may recall Mathews from his days at Outside magazine and the now-defunct Outside Business magazine. In addition to his extensive magazine ad sales background, Mathews helped to create the Sport Trac Challenge and No Boundaries Experience promotion for Ford Motor Company and founded an outdoor festival in Alaska called the Chugach Mountain Festival. Recently he was in charge of the sponsorship sales in Seattle for White River Amphitheatre and Clear Channel Entertainment — a music entertainment company.
“We are pleased to have someone of Scott’s sales caliber and marketing experience handling our Midwest customers and a number of other select national accounts,†said Gene Treacy, sales director for SNEWS LLC, parent company of GearTrends® and SNEWS®. “As we’ve grown, we found the need to have more focused representation in the markets we serve.”
An avid outdoor participant and fitness enthusiast, Mathews is excited to be joining GearTrends® and SNEWS®.
“As someone who has been involved in the outdoor industry since 1987, I’m excited to join such a core group of industry insiders, reconnect with old friends, and be able to share the benefits of SNEWS® and GearTrends® and the important role they play in the outdoor and fitness specialty markets,” said Mathews.
In Mathews’ spare time you’ll find him backpacking, biking, skating, mountainboarding the streets of Seattle, playing Ultimate Frisbee, or pumping up the sweat meter down at his local gym. We hear his favorite outdoor pursuit is being at cool and extreme playgrounds with his two boys, Devin and Ben — and, no, Scott cannot come out to play right now.
