Women consumers often like to support female-led companies like YogaGlyphs, a new yoga apparel company co-founded by Tiffany Breckenridge.

None

SNEWS recently chatted with Breckenridge about her new line of shirts, which she will launch at the outdoor industry’s upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, and what inspired her to start her company.

According to a study by U.S. research firm MRI, there were 16.3 million yoga practitioners as of 2012. That number is expected to grow as yoga gains steam as a cross-training tool for multiple sports and as a means of relaxation in an ever-stressful world.

Tell us about your brand and products:
Our product is made with every woman in mind. The woman who is short on time, works out but needs to be in 20 different places immediately after her workout. The yoga/lifestyle industry has done a great job of giving us amazing workout pants, but what we needed next were tops to finish off our outfits. Yes, outfits. What you wear to the gym is now the outfit that will carry you through out the day and sometimes into the evening. YogaGlyphs tees were made to pivot you through your day, allowing the woman to feel confident and fashionable as she moves from class to errands to dinner.

What were you, as the founder of the company, doing before this?
I worked for Old Navy in San Francisco in its merchandising/design department

Where did your inspiration come from?
The brand started when my business partner and I were in [yoga] teacher training. We were trying to learn the postures and had originally come up with the idea for water bottles.

What’s the one best feature of your product?
With YogaGlyphs, woman get affordable fashion mixed with Zen.

What has been your biggest challenge?
All of our products are made in Los Angeles; however, we both live in Nashville.

Who do you look up to in the industry?
I look up to the women who have started successful brands: Tory Burch, Alice and Olivia, Rachel Zoe.

Who do you want to compete against in the industry?
This is going to sound cliché, but we really don’t want to compete. We just want to clothe the yogis that love our tees and our message!
