SNEWS (Specialty NEWS) and SIA (SnowSports Industries America) announced a partnership to provide subscriptions as a benefit to SIA retail members.Â

As part of the new relationship, SNEWS will provide one individual subscription to each SIA retailer member for one membership year (June 1 – May 31). SNEWS will also provide additional individual subscriptions to SIA retail members for $75 each, half the standard rate of $150 per person. Other terms were not disclosed.

“The addition of SNEWS to our retailer membership benefits package will give shops valuable information about the outdoor marketplace,” said David Ingemie, president of SIA. “Retailers will gain a lot of insight by regularly reviewing the stories published in SNEWS. We are delighted with this new partnership.” Â

Subscriptions for current SIA retail members will begin immediately. New members will automatically receive SNEWS as part of their benefits package.

Retailers interested in becoming members of SIA should contact Mary Cecile Neville at 703-556-9020 or by email at mcneville@snowsports.org.

SNEWS View: It is our firm belief that retailers should actively participate in their industry associations, but we also know that financial constraints play a limiting role. We are convinced that by offering this subscription benefit to associations, it will create a useful and tangible added incentive for store owners to join and support their respective trade group’s programs — programs that are designed to help the industry and their businesses grow. Too, as members of a trade association, retailers can help shape the direction and policies of that association, which SNEWS believes is essential input. Since SIA is the preeminent snow sports trade association, this partnership was a natural one to enter into.
