The fifth-annual “Take your Daughter to the Snow Week,” co-sponsored by Snow Industries America (SIA) will take place Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. Nina Kemppel, three-time Olympian and 15-time national Nordic champion, joins Picabo Street, national spokesperson for the event, to encourage Nordic centers and retailers across the country to participate. Individual cross-country centers can put together their own program, which can vary from weekend activities to a week full of choices. A common denominator in the past has been a substantial discount — such as two for one pricing on trail tickets when moms and dads bring their daughter (niece, sister, or granddaughter) to the ticket window. Individual programs may include any one or a combination of specials on food, equipment rentals, lessons, clinics, race courses, tubing, snowshoeing, women’s workshops, plus some end-of-the-day events. Retailers and rental shops may also participate with programs that may include discounts on equipment rentals, equipment tune-ups, storewide promotions on clothing and gear and how-to clinics. To find out more about the event, contact event co-directors Ingrid Niehaus at ingridn2@mindspring.com or Jan Berg at jberg56831@aol.com.
