The coronavirus crisis has ravaged small businesses across the globe, and those in the outdoor industry are no exception. If you own an outdoor startup, Catapult Innovation Labs, a startup accelerator owned by SNEWS’ parent company, Active Interest Media, has devised a means of assistance for getting you through these uncertain times. “Survive and Thrive,” a series of online workshops, will be available for free to outdoor recreation industry startup founders, with a special focus on startups doing $250k to $1m in annual revenue.

The workshops will address topics such as funding resources, leadership strategies, how to pivot businesses quickly and effectively, and how to navigate supply chain interruptions.

Daniel “Dano” Marshall, co-founder of Carabiner Outdoors and program director for the series, told SNEWS, “In our conversations with outdoor industry startup founders in recent weeks, my co-Founder, Mona West, and I have heard consistent challenges and concerns voiced by all as they grapple with the implications of COVID-19. We’ve also witnessed firsthand how startups have pivoted to adjust their models and ensure long-term success. The ‘Survive and Thrive’ webinars will bring together the national community of outdoor startups to learn from and support each other, so this important pipeline of outdoor innovation will continue to succeed in these uncertain times.”

“Innovation is the lifeblood of the outdoor industry, and Catapult Innovation Labs was started to support outdoor startups and the pipeline of products and services they create, said Sharon Houghton, general manager at Active Interest Media. “With the recent challenges of COVID-19 it is now—more than ever—critical to provide training and resources to startup founders so they may continue to thrive.”

The programs will take place weekly throughout the month of April, with the first session (“Now What? Navigating Funding in Uncertain Times”) happening on Monday, April 6th at 1 p.m. EST.
