A container filled with about $1 million of Nordica skis and boots was stolen from Nordica’s Quebec consolidating company this past weekend. Andy Knittle, vice president and general manager of Nordica North America, told SNEWS that the product is unique, so authorities should be able to track it down more easily. “The boots are made specially for large Canadian retailers,” Knittle said, noting that they have special names and labels for particular stores. “If a product with a particular name shows up outside of one of these major chains, it’s certainly going to be suspect.” Knittle asked that retailers be on the lookout for the stolen boots and skis, which would likely hit the gray market. “Of course, we will greatly appreciate any assistance from our retail customers should any of them be approached with offers to purchase Nordica products from any party other than Nordica.” Knittle said Nordica North America has never had a container stolen before, but he’s aware that these types of thieves usually run sophisticated operations. “They seem to know what’s in the container, and know how to back a tractor-trailer into the warehouse forcefully to release locks that secure the container,” he said. If you have any information regarding the stolen products, call Knittle at 1-800-892-2668.
