Only a year old, Trixter with its X-Bike indoor cycle and program hasn’t wasted a moment. Already establishing itself in clubs both independently and as a part of a partnership with Matrix Fitness, Trixter announced this week a retail package that includes videos and DVDs, as well as a consumer version of its manual.

The soft launch of the consumer package was made at the annual mountain biking mecca, the Sea Otter Classic, on the Monterey Peninsula in California — an event that is seen by many as the season kickoff for mountain biking and which attracts about 60,000 bikers, enthusiasts, racers and family.

Alec Dinner, Trixter sales director, said the company chose to launch its retail entry there since the event exemplifies the company’s tagline, “Outdoor Attitude Brought Indoors.” During the event, X-Biking demos were ongoing, and Dinner said outdoor bikers immediately understood the use of the bike with its feel of outdoor riding through an articulating handlebar that moves side-to-side (www.x-biking.com).

The package of bike, manual and workout CD will sell for $1,200 and will be available in early fall 2004. In addition, new workouts on DVD and video will be available starting in the fall, and bike purchasers can subscribe to a monthly service of workouts.

“We aren’t selling X-Bikes,” Dinner said. “We’re selling X-BikING. Our bike allows you to experience everything about outdoor cycling Â… except the bugs in your teeth.”
