“It’s True, fitness firm strengthens sales 600 percent” read the headline of the St. Louis Business journal last week on a story about True Fitness. Wrote the paper: “With little fanfare, O’Fallon, Mo.-based, True Fitness Technology Inc. has grown into one of the most recognizable brands in the exercise equipment industry.” The story goes on to quote founder and CEO Frank Trulaske about its growth and that the company in 1997 had $44 million in sales. The reason for the growth, he says, is the company’s expansion from its treadmill line in the last two years to include other aerobic equipment, as well as its new strength line. That was, he told the paper, a response to client demands for package sales. The company is also close to completing a $3 million warehouse that will double True Fitness’ headquarters. Included with the 110,000-square-foot warehouse will be a showroom and education center where the company can demonstrate its new models to clients and vendors.
