Vista Outdoor Inc. announced Thursday morning that it will buy BRG Sports’ Action Sports division for $400 million, taking Bell, Giro, C-Preme and Blackburn. BRG Sports will maintain ownership of football helmet brand Riddell.
Under the agreement, Vista Outdoor will also acquire the companies’ more than 600 employees, according to a Vista Outdoor press release issued Thursday morning. It may pay more than the agreed purchase price if certain profit goals are reached after the acquisition.
Vista Outdoor is based in Utah and is the parent company of Camelbak, Bollé, Millet and dozens of other outdoor and shooting sports brands. The acquisition will result in a “balancing of Vista Outdoor’s brand portfolio between Shooting Sports and Outdoor Products,” the press release said. It’s Vista Outdoor’ third acquisition since going public about a year ago, positioning the company as “leading company in cycling and snow sports equipment in both North America and Europe,” Chairman and CEO Mark DeYoung said in the release.
