- The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), in Park City, Utah, named Michael Jacquet, as its new chief marketing officer. Jaquet, a former senior executive with CBS Sports, will take over leadership responsibilities for sponsorship, licensing, suppliers and media sales and marketing for the Olympic sports organization and its U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Freeskiing and U.S. Snowboarding brands.
- Salomon USA, in Ogden, Utah, announced Lance Taylor as its new footwear/athletic apparel sales representative for the Rockies. Taylor’s territory includes Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico, and he will work closely with Anna Moseley, the Salomon Field Marketing Associate located in Colorado. He previously served as Salomon’s footwear and sales product associate.
- Polarmax, in West End, N.C., promoted two employees from within, including Doris Hinson to human resources manager, who previously served as a customer service representative; and Michelle Conley to assistant marketing manager, who previously served as sales manager assistant and as assistant to the president and CEO.
- Smartwool, in Steamboat, Colo., also promoted two employees from within: Amy Davis went from retail marketing manager to sales manager of specialty lifestyle/footwear/online and catalog; and Gardner Flanigan moved from field marketing and strategic partner manager to marketing manager of specialty lifestyle.
- Rab, in Louisville, Colo., added Pete Tapley to its global team of nearly 30 professional mountain athletes. Tapley is a professional guide in Montana as well a photographer, videographer and writer.
- Injinji, in Sausalito, Calif., hired Outside PR to conduct a broad-ranging branding and product publicity campaign, helping to unveil new product assortments and packaging at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.
- GSI Outdoors, in Spokane Wash., retained the services of Andreas Ruhs to expand the company’s sales and marketing efforts in European Union countries. The move follows the opening this past February of a warehouse in the Netherlands to further support the company’s European distributors. Andreas comes to GSI Outdoors with over 20 years experience in the outdoor industry as regional sales manager for Primus in Central and Southern Europe and responsible for sales, technical support, clinics and marketing/public relations support. He will be headquartered out of Niederkassel, (Cologne) Germany.
- High Sierra Sport Co., in Vernon Hills, Ill., promoted Jack Rohrbach as vice president of global sourcing and appointed Kurt Moriwaki as creative director. Rohrbach will oversee all Asian operations, which include sourcing, commercialization, and production processes. He will have a strategic role to oversee supply chain efficiency, new factory partnerships, and quality control. Moriwaki joins High Sierra from Wilson Sporting Goods, where he was the art director for the company’s team sports division.
- Access Fund, in Boulder, Colo., added Curt Shannon as an Arizona policy analyst. Shannon will represent climbers and the Access Fund in their current opposition to HR 1904, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act—more commonly known as the Oak Flat Land Exchange Bill.
- Boreas, in San Francisco, hired YPS Inc. to handle sales in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. YPS Inc. owner Ned Johnson along with three outside reps and office manager will be managing the Pacific Northwest territory from their home base of Seattle, Wash.
