The Outdoor Foundation today announced the release of the 2008 Outdoor Recreation Participation Report, the only detailed study of its kind tracking American participation trends in outdoor recreation.
According to The OIA Outdoor Topline Report, retail sales for all core outdoor stores fell 11% in dollars compared to November 2007, the first month of overall dollar sales decline since the recession started in December 2007.

Frank Hugelmeyer, President of Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), announced today the appointment of Amy Roberts as Director of Government Affairs, overseeing all government affairs activities including public policy, lobbying, and grassroots organizing. Currently OIA’s Legislative Affairs Associate for Recreation Policy, Amy will be filling the vacancy left by VP of Government Affairs, Myrna Johnson, who is stepping down after ten years to pursue a masters degree at the prestigious John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
