Doug Schnitzspahn is the editor-in-chief of Elevation Outdoors and the editor of Outdoor Retailer magazine as well as a frequent contributor to publications including Mens Journal, BACKPACKER, and Fatherly.com. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington where he won the Mary Rouvelas prize in fiction, and his creative work won a fellowship from the Colorado Council on the Arts and kudos in Best American Essays. He has fought wildfires for the USFS, worked on campaigns to create new national monuments, and loves tiramisu.
