Kenji Haroutunian

Kenji Haroutunian is a Business Event Strategist and Organizer, with focus on the inter-connections of the Outdoor Recreation Industry. As Vice-President of Nielsen/Emerald Expositions and the Outdoor Retailer shows (2007-2014), Kenji took calculated risks in technology, design, experiential events, floorplan design & layout, and sustainable practices to drive change in the industry. An award-winning leader in both the trade events and outdoor rec industries, Kenji has worked with thousands of organizations across the business ecosystem that constitutes the greater outdoor recreation world. Prior to working for trade shows, Kenji spent 14 years running specialty outdoor retail stores at Adventure 16, while also teaching outdoor skills including rock climbing, map & compass, backpacking, and mountaineering, garnering AMGA accreditation for one outfitter, and working for a time at Pacific Crest Outward Bound School. Currently Kenji is the Board President of the Access Fund, President of Friends Of Joshua Tree, and a founding board member of TECC Society (an event technology community). His experience speaking publicly, along with his work in guiding and diversity initiatives, give him insights to share and inspiration on offer for moving the needle in organizations looking to take on new challenges and stretch goals.
