SNEWS® Live: If you’re a regular listener to SNEWS® Live, you’ll recognize our theme music. The song “Idaho Pines” is an original arrangement preformed by the California-based band, Hot Buttered Rum. Ever since our first podcast went live on the Internet in 2005, the group has graciously allowed us to use its music to open and close the show. As we begin our third year of production with more than 70 editions in our wake, we figured it was high time to introduce the band via podcast.
At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hot Buttered Rum was the featured band at one of the many industry parties. A few hours before their performance, band members came by the SNEWS® booth to tell us their story. We spoke to Zach Matthews, who plays mandolin, and Aaron Redner, who plays the fiddle.
