SNEWS® Live: Dudley Edmondson is an African-American nature photographer. In a career that spans more than 15 years, he’s taken pictures around the world. Through his lens, Edmondson has brought to life images of natural setting from rain forests to deserts.
In his 2006 book, “Black & Brown Faces in American’s Wild Places,” Edmondson offers an intimate look at 20 people of color who like him have taken on outdoor recreation as both a lifestyle and a profession. Beautifully illustrated with his own photographs, Edmondson’s book captures the joy and passion of each subject that outdoor enthusiasts will certainly recognize. Seen through the eyes of a community whose traditional perspective of the wilderness has been less than pleasant, the world outside takes on a whole new meaning. SNEWS® Live spoke with Edmondson to give us a snapshot view.
