BUFF founder Joan Rojas passes away
The inventor of the world's most ingenious outdoor accessory died at age 71.

We are sad to report the passing of Joan Rojas, founder of BUFF. Rojas fought a courageous battle with cancer, and was surrounded by loved ones when he died at 71.
Rojas founded BUFF in 1992. While touring around the country roads of Catalonia, he found himself in need of headwear that was versatile, and protective against sun, wind, and cold, and came up with the novel idea of a seamless fabric tube that could we worn in so many different ways.
Rojas was born into the textile business in 1946. At his family’s textile factory in Barcelona, he produced the original samples of his uncannily simple, yet innovative, design. BUFFs are still produced at the same factory today.
“For over 25 years, Joan Rojas has been a source of inspiration, innovation, and passion behind The Original Multifunctional Performance Headwear for all-season outdoor enthusiasts and athletes,” said BUFF in a statement.
Since its inception, BUFF has grown to be one of the largest headwear companies in the world, sold in more than 70 countries.
On behalf of BUFF-lovers all over the world, rest in peace, Joan.
