In memoriam: Hooper's Outdoor Center owner Craig Sims passes away

Craig Sims, owner of Hooper's Outdoor Center in Paducah, Ky., lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 10. He was 49.

Craig Sims, owner of Hooper’s Outdoor Center in Paducah, Ky., lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 10. He was 49.

He had accomplished many things in life, from being a member of the 1978 Mayfield High School state champion football team to climbing Aconcagua. Hooper’s, in the historic downtown district of Paducah, has been open since 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lee McNeil Sims; son, Adam Craig Sims of Paducah; his parents, Larry Sims and Bonnie Bennett Sims; two brothers, Kerry Sims of Owensboro and Johnny Jackson of Mayfield; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held at the Broadway Church of Christ on Sept. 13. In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3140 Parisa Dr., Paducah, KY 42003; American Red Cross, Paducah Chapter, 232 North Eighth St., Paducah, KY 42001; or Broadway Church of Christ, Middle East Ministries, P.O. Box 7315, Paducah, KY 42002.
