In a 2018 survey conducted by Outside Business Journal with #SafeOutside, 41 percent of 922 respondents reported having experienced sexual harassment or assault in outdoor industry jobs, and 44 percent reported seeing sexual harassment or assault occur in the workplace. Numerous anecdotes from survivors revealed an industry culture not immune to issues of workplace sexual violence.
Seekhaven’s training seminar will give attendees a toolkit to effectively respond to gender-based violence and harassment in outdoor-industry work settings. Some of the topics discussed will include how to recognize industry-specific manifestations of violence, how sexual assault and harassment impact victims, and what can be done to prevent harassment in the workplace.
The seminar will take place March 4 at 2 p.m. MT. More information, and a link to register, can be found on Seekhaven’s Facebook event page.
