Outdoor Retailer and the Outdoor Industry Association are asking the industry for help in finding creative ways to express the industry’s support for public lands in Salt Lake City this summer.

“This is not a one-and-done issue,” said Marisa Nicholson, show director of Outdoor Retailer, in a statement issued Tuesday. “While Bears Ears National Monument status is a lightning rod, it is just the most currently visible example of what will be a long, hard series of fights the outdoor community needs to not only raise our voices about, but, even more importantly, about which we need to be heard.”

Outdoor Retailer has created a new website, unity.outdoorretailer.com, to share news about progress on the search for a new venue for the show, as well as to collect ideas for harnessing the power of the industry. OIA and OR are exploring other ways to use the funding budgeted for the Industry Breakfast, for example, and is interested in hearing suggestions for other uses for that time and money, such as rallies, conservation town halls, and a community camp out.

Suggestions can be submitted via a survey on the website.
