Climbing Magazine has announced that it will be producing a custom publication for the 20th Phoenix Bouldering Contest (PBC) to be held April 24-27, 2003. The PBC is one of the largest and longest-running climbing competitions in the world, and one of the climbing community’s largest consumer events and festivals.
The as-yet-unnamed PBC custom publication will be distributed to subscribers in the Southwest and Rocky Mountain states and nationally to specialty retailers as a supplement to Climbing’s May 2003 issue, on sale March 15 and at the event. Climbing estimates gross distribution will total 21,500 copies.
Climbing has announced that they will look into the culture, history and evolution of the event, including what promises to be a humorous look at climbing fashion through the 1980s and 1990s.
