While the President’s Challenge has been getting kids active for decades, this year is the first time in its history that the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports has launched a national challenge, encouraging people of all ages to participate in the six-week physical activity challenge.
The premise of the challenge is to get everyone 6 years and older active five days a week for six weeks. To complete the challenge, adults 18 and older need to be active 30 minutes a day, while youth aged 6-17 need to be active an hour a day.
Registration is open March 1 to April 3 and is free. The challenge kicks off March 20 and concludes May 15 during National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, giving participants eight weeks to complete the six-week program. The President’s Council is encouraging Americans to sign up individually or as a group, as a corporation, or as a family, and then set goals, log activity and watch the progress.
