Planet Dog Philanthropy announces 2002 grant recipients

Planet Dog Philanthropy, a non-profit organization created by Maine-based manufacturer Planet Dog, has awarded $14,500 in grants this year.


Planet Dog Philanthropy, a non-profit organization created by Maine-based manufacturer Planet Dog, has awarded $14,500 in grants this year. Planet Dog gives grants to programs the organization believes best “preserve and restore the natural environment, cultivate animal welfare, and foster quality education.” Equest, a non-profit therapeutic horseback-riding program serving adults and children with disabilities, received a $5,000 educational and animal welfare grant. Portland Trails, an urban land trust in Portland, received a $2,500 environmental grant to support a new program, “Engaging the Community: Volunteer Program Enhancement.” Marine Animal Lifeline, a non-profit focused on scientific research and public education, received a $2,500 animal welfare grant. In addition, Planet Dog made multi-year grant commitments of $1,500 to Junior Achievement of Maine and $1,500 to My Wonderful Dog of Maine, as well as a donation of $1,500 in Planet Dog product to Forever Paws Animal Shelter.
