Taiwan’s Infotrade company, which publishes source books and buyers’ guides of goods made in Taiwan, will have at least 17 booth spaces at the coming Health & Fitness Business Show in Denver to show products in what will be a “Taiwan pavilion” in the back of the hall.
The presence is a huge jump up from Infotrade’s single booth last year. Infotrade is a trade media company that publishes buyers’ guides and source books representing Taiwanese manufacturers’ products. Not only does the company publish and represent fitness and health products, but also sports, outdoors, garden, floriculture, motor, tool and ATV goods. The company represents its country’s suppliers at shows such as Interbike and Australian Fitness Expo.
“We want to introduce Taiwan’s manufacturer-suppliers to the international buyers and create more prosperous business,” Joy Wang, vice general manager, told SNEWS® by email.
According to show director Lance Camisasca, Infotrade became the Taiwanese agent for this year’s Health & Fitness Business show, Aug. 3-5, to bring its suppliers to the show.
In Denver, Infotrade (www.trade-eye.com) said it will show products, present brands and their image, demonstrate their expertise, and look for buyers and partners, Wang said.
“The fitness equipment category is the hottest item in the sporting goods industry in recent years,” Wang said, growing by 13.5 percent in 2005 over 2004. In addition, she said, export values reached $450 million.
“Taiwan is the most important supplier of fitness equipment and the United States is the leader in this market and field; therefore, Taiwan will spend lots of energy to develop the North American market,” she added. “Denver provides an excellent chance for Taiwan suppliers to participate.”
In the pavilion, Infotrade said it will have products such as treadmills, ellipticals, home gyms, indoor bikes, exercise mats, yoga gear and other accessories.
“Taiwan exhibitors are very optimistic about the HFB show,” Wang said. “In the past six years, indoor fitness equipment is the No. 1 export among sporting goods and the United States is the biggest consumer market of sports equipment.”
Camisasca, who also oversees the huge Interbike show in September, said Infotrade already has had a long relationship there with a large pavilion for Taiwanese companies. He said he hopes HFB customers won’t feel threatened since his experience shows that the relationship at Interbike works quite smoothly.
SNEWS® View: This will be a bit of a change for a normally very North American-oriented show. We know many will be suspicious of the Infotrade companies and their representatives; however, it is true that these companies and others are already making and supplying much of the equipment already sold at the show.
