IHRSA is loud and proud, and the 2012 show was even louder and prouder than previous years. Every day, the floor was buzzing and IHRSA spokeswoman Meredith Poppler said she couldn’t have been happier with the turnout.
While she didn’t have numbers handy to compare this year’s show to previous events, Poppler said this show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, was definitely bigger than last year’s.
“I think the different location — it was our first time in Los Angeles — gave the show new energy,” Poppler said. There were more than 320 exhibitors in the hall and more than 10,000 attendees participated in the show. “It was one of our biggest ever because we had more space to play with.”
Next year’s show will be held March 19-22, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Mandalay Bay. Poppler said she’s looking forward to it.
“It’s just a totally different type of location than we’ve ever been in before, [and] that will change the feel of the event somewhat,” Poppler said. She noted that the exhibition space at Mandalay Bay is comparable to that at the Los Angeles Convention Center, so the show can accommodate the growth she’s anticipating.
Other than the potential growth, Poppler said the show wouldn’t be too much different next year. “We won’t change much. We still plan on being the biggest, best and most motivating show for our industry,” Poppler said. “We’ll build on the success of this year’s show and economy will only get better over the next year.”
