Seattle, Wash. (January 21, 2010) – This Saturday, January 23 the Tubbs Romp to Stomp out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series® will kick off at Mountain Creek Resort in New Jersey and celebrate an important milestone: raising more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS donated to the breast cancer cause since the Series inception in 2003.

“We won’t have the final tally until the last event in the Series is done in March,” explains Series Director, Wendy Miller, “but taking into consideration the donations we’ve received so far, we’re excited to announce that, since the Romp to Stomp started in 2003, we’ve donated more than a million dollars to support our beneficiaries, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation®.”

The Romp to Stomp donates 100% of participant fundraising and 100% of the event proceeds to the beneficiaries. Each event benefits the organizations at the local level—ensuring that most of the funds raised benefits the areas in which each Romp to Stomp event takes place.

“People come to the Romp to Stomp for all sorts of reasons,” says Miller. “It is incredible to see participants from all walks of life strap on a pair of snowshoes to support a cause that has impacted so many of us. When all the fundraising is added up at the end of each event, it is overwhelming to see what a powerful impact one group of snowshoers can make!”

The Romp to Stomp has engaged more than 16,000 people in the sport of snowshoeing by offering a fun, beginner and family-friendly way to stay active in the winter and support an important cause. Modeled after the highly successful Race for the Cure®, the Romp consists of a 3k or 5k snowshoe walk or a 3k snowshoe race at 6 locations in the USA or a 3k Snowshoe walk and 5k snowshoe race at 1 location in Canada. The gorgeous snowshoe courses, fun atmosphere, and FREE demo snowshoes from Tubbs helps to attract participants of all levels.

The event has grown every year and now is the largest snowshoe series in the world and includes the biggest single snowshoe event in North America (Frisco, Colorado).
