Eagle Creek completed its 20th annual holiday food drive in support of the North County Community Services in San Diego, California. The effort raised a record $20,085 donation and an increase of more than $10,000 over 2007.

Eagle Creek’s food drive generates the largest donation of food and money that the food bank receives each year. The amount raised this year is enough to provide 80,000 pounds of food, significantly more than Eagle Creek’s goal of 50,000 pounds. In addition to collecting donations, Eagle Creek associates and friends also collected 6,100 pounds of food, delivered to North County Food Bank with the help of long-time supporter Roadway Trucking.

“This year, the North County Food Bank has seen its biggest need for donations and food ever,” said Steve Barker, President of Eagle Creek. “Our associates, customers, vendor partners and community far exceeded expectations as they enthusiastically stepped up. Their generosity toward those who need it most has helped make this a brighter holiday season for many San Diegans.”

Fundraising efforts for the food drive included silent auctions, an online donation site, a parking lot sale event and the set-up of food bins at 11 local organizations, including Daytron World Communications, Directed Electronics, Schroeder Sewing Technology. Area businesses also contributed donations. Reef, The North Face and Vans provided product for the silent auctions. In addition, an Eagle Creek associate also worked with Sports Chalet to donate 200 rain ponchos to North County Community Services. The ponchos will be given to homeless San Diegans for increased protection during rainy winter.
