FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dec 15, New York – Team Beyond, a foundation of two endurance athletes raising dollars and awareness in the fight against hunger and cancer in America, have officially set off on their 3,000 mile unassisted row from Spain to the Caribbean. Partnered with Rudy Project to provide them with technically advanced RX eyewear, the team founders Daley Ervin and Phil Theodore will complete the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, aiming to set a new world record time and become the first Americans to win this epic feat.

“What these guys are aiming to do is truly inspiring,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America. “My competitive rowing background, along with Rudy Project’s title of Official Eyewear & Helmet of USRowing, only increases my appreciation and admiration for Team Beyond’s valiant effort to win the world’s toughest rowing race. This challenge isn’t just about being fit, it’s about being mentally tough, and the fact that they are racing for so much more than themselves is surely to motivate them in their darkest moments.”
In addition to their desire to smash the previous world record, Team Beyond is committed to solving the hunger crisis in America. Using extreme endurance races as a platform,The Beyond Foundation supports organizations that are helping change the nutritional landscape in America. Most recently, Team Beyond launched its first initiative with ReadyPac Foods Inc., facilitating $4.5 million worth of fresh produce to food banks nationally.

As if rowing the entire Atlantic weren’t enough of challenge, both Daley and Phil require prescription glasses to see clearly. In order to battle the elements in varying light conditions and weather, the team will rely on Rudy Project to provide them with the world’s most technically advanced RX sport sunglasses. Utilizing Rudy Project’s unbreakable and photochromic ImpactX-2 lenses, their individual prescriptions were digitally surfaced onto the optical backside, for edge-to-edge coverage and lenses which automatically adapt to anything Mother Nature dishes out.
The current Talisker Whisky Challenge Pairs Division Record is 39 days and 20 hours. Starting December 15th, you can track Team Beyond’s progress on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge website and help tackle the hunger crisis in America by donating on Team Beyond’s Crowdrise page. Rudy Project will also update the public with Team Beyond’s whereabouts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
