66ËšNorth announces the hiring of Justin Zak as Western regional sales manager. Based out of Park City, Utah, Zak will be responsible for fostering retail relationships, marketing initiatives and sales for the western United States.

Zak previously worked with 66ËšNorth, so he has a comprehensive knowledge of the line. Most recently, he was the merchandise division coordinator for backcountry.com. Combined with his experience in promotions, vendor relations and purchasing, Zak is an extremely valuable asset to the 66ËšNorth team.

“Justin’s experience in the outdoor industry makes him the perfect candidate for 66ËšNorth’s Western regional sales manager position. He has spent time on both sides of the presentation table, as a rep and as a buyer,” said Matt Hershey, U.S. director of operations. “He knows what buyers look for in a new line and how to present our brand with the utmost professionalism. We are pumped to have him on board and look forward to the growth he will create for the brand.”

Zak had to pass one quintessential Icelandic test before becoming an official member of the team. “During a recent trip to Reykjavik,” Hershey explained, “Justin took the customary Icelandic Brennivin shot and hákarl (Icelandic “fermented shark”) without gagging. That pretty much sealed the deal; he was our man!”

Trained in Alaska, Zak is a professional backcountry guide and an avid, outdoor enthusiast. He lives in Park City, Utah. He can be reached at: justin@66north.com.
