A New Chapter for Pacific Coast Trail Runs

Los Gatos, CA – Pacific Coast Trail Runs (PCTR), one of the nation’s oldest trail race management companies, has been acquired by Greg Lanctot, a long-time ultrarunner, youth fitness expert, and President of the Quicksilver Running Club. Lanctot will take over the reins from PCTR’s current owners, John and Maureen Brooks, on November 1.

“Greg Lanctot has a long history in the trail running and ultrarunning communities,” commented John Brooks. “He has helped build Quicksilver into one of the top running clubs in California and he understands the perspectives of competitive and recreational athletes alike. In his service to the sport, Greg models the values that are so important to our community and respects the history of PCTR. I am confident that PCTR and its participants are in good hands and that he will continue to strengthen its relationship with the running community.”

Founded in 2000 by Wendell Doman and Sarah Spelt, Pacific Coast Trail Runs has set the standard for presenting old school, community-oriented trail running events in Northern California. PCTR was one of the first companies in the United States to offer a full schedule of trail ultramarathons, producing more than 20 races per year. Their events typically feature multiple distances and a low-key, supportive environment. Over the past 16 years, PCTR has helped expose thousands of runners to the sport and contributed to the popularity of trail running in the region.

“Pacific Coast Trail Runs has always been known for producing a certain kind of event: the races are low-key and grassroots events and that won’t change,” says Lanctot. “At the same time, we will continue to raise the bar with unique, high-quality events in new locations that create memorable experiences for our participants.“

“In his capacity as President of the Quicksilver Running Club, Greg had been trying to get me to experience the Quicksilver 100K for several years”, said elite ultrarunner, race director, and PCTR Advisory Council Member Krissy Moehl, “I finally made it down this year and had a great time. As a competitor and race director, I appreciated the attention he paid to make sure that everyone had a memorable experience. Pacific Coast Trail Runs has a storied history in our sport. I am excited to learn that Greg is taking the helm and look forward to working with his tremendous energy and creativity.”
