SAFETY HARBOR, FL – October 1, 2021 – Sawyer Products, leaders in technologically advanced outdoor solutions and producers of world-class water filtration products, has played an active role in recent weeks by providing its water filters to thousands of at-need residents that have been impacted by Haiti’s recent 7.2-magnitude earthquake and Hurricane Ida. Over the last two months, Sawyer has donated or allocated more than 65,000 of its water filtration products to those with diminished access to clean drinking water, providing a potentially life-saving solution for up to 250,000 people per day.

Working with noteworthy partner organizations such as Hope for Haiti, Water With Blessings, Flying High 4 Haiti, Samaritan’s Purse, and Amazon’s Disaster Relief Hub, among many more, the task of getting water filters in residents’ hands was a true team effort that proved successful in the face of several challenges. In Haiti, both weather and civil unrest made logistics very difficult, in addition to the sheer impact of the earthquake on infrastructure. Thankfully, many of Sawyer’s bucket filter systems had previously been distributed to residents in the areas most impacted by the earthquake before it hit, underscoring the importance of preparation. For Hurricane Ida, Sawyer donated more than 1200 of its Tap Filter product, which can yield up to 500 gallons of clean drinking water per day, as well as thousands of sunscreen and insect repellent bottles to protect the relief and cleanup efforts.

“Over the last two months, we’ve unfortunately seen two major weather events occur with Haiti’s earthquake and Hurricane Ida here in the US, along with other significant storms, water shortages and wildfires throughout the country,” said Kurt Avery, CEO of Sawyer Products. “We’re grateful to work closely with some fantastic organizations to provide our water solutions to those impacted by these circumstances. The most essential part of Hurricane Season is to stay diligent in your preparation, and at Sawyer Products we’re committed to delivering safe and effective clean water solutions, such as our Tap Filter, that can make adequate preparedness attainable for all.”

As we enter October, Sawyer continues to urge residents in high-risk locations to ensure that they’ve implemented proactive emergency preparedness measures ahead of any potential weather events on the horizon. August and September are often most associated with the peak of hurricane season, but it is imperative that residents avoid letting their guard down too soon, as many severe hurricanes have emerged from the Atlantic as late as mid-October – most recently, the Category 5 Hurricane Michael in 2018. Preparation is essential, and through the introduction of its recently launched Tap Filter product, as well as collaborating with Amazon’s newly opened Disaster Relief Hub, Sawyer will continue to serve a trusted resource to help people everywhere both before and in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters and emergency situations.

Launched in October 2020, the Tap Filter is Sawyer’s newest addition to its trusted line of personal water filtration systems and perhaps its most impactful product yet for hurricane season. Stemming from Sawyer’s global welfare initiatives through the charitable arm of the brand, Sawyer International, the Tap Filter allows people to enjoy 99.99999 percent bacteria-free water through the faucets in their very own home. Whether it be an outside faucet or an indoor sink, the Tap Filter can filter up to 500 gallons of water per day, making access to clean, safe drinking water more feasible than ever for those in need. Eliminating reliance on bottled products that may be in short supply during hurricanes or in the aftermath, Sawyer’s Tap Filter provides an easy way to access clean water directly from your plumbing, even when boil advisories are in effect. Using 0.1 absolute micron filtration, making it impossible for harmful pathogens like salmonella or cysts like E. coli, Giardia and Vibrio cholerae to pass through, Sawyer’s Tap Filter belongs in every household in America and any nation at risk of exposure to a major hurricane.

The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1st and runs through Tuesday, November 30th, meaning it is not too late to ensure you and your loved ones are adequately prepared.
