LOS ANGELES, Calif. – June 17, 2021 – California brands Mission Workshop and Afterschool Projects today announce a new collection of apparel and packs that meld Mission Workshop’s knowledge in technical materials with the spirit and playfulness of Afterschool Projects.
The collaboration all started with a question and an experiment: is it possible to tie-dye tech fabrics? What better way to initiate a project than by going into the unknown?
Through persistence and experimentation, the MW and ASP teams discovered a unique process to tie-dye the iconic X-Pac® fabric from Dimension Polyant. The result being three unique camouflage-inspired dyes – Inyo, Mojave, and Hippie – with a touch of psychedelic joy to the functional aesthetic.
The nexus of this collaboration is the Speedwell backpack, blending DNA from the ASP Rucksack and MW Hauser packs with new design features to create the next iteration of functional and aesthetic pack design.
The full collection includes matching Sacoche EDC accessory bags, ASP’s utility shorts made from the Mission Jean fabric, unique tie-dyed t-shirts and two limited edition water bottles that fit perfectly in the Speedwell pack.
The X-Pac® fabric was meticulously tie-dyed by hand, giving each bag a signature that makes the MW x ASP collection truly unique.
ASP finds inspiration from the surrounding streets of its LA home by bottling a new take on SoCal streetwear with USA-made bags and apparel. Mission Workshop’s humble beginnings took root in an alleyway in what was once referred to as “The Messenger Ghetto,” in the Mission District of San Francisco. Utilizing nothing but the very best materials, researched designs, and stylish looks, Mission Workshop sets the standard in utilitarian bags and beautifully tailored apparel made from performance fabrics.
The new Mission Workshop x Afterschool Projects Collab is available now on AfterschoolProjects.com and missionworkshop.com.
