Boulder, CO (February 15, 2017) – Active Interest Media (aimmedia.com) announces the hiring of Alex Aufmann as Senior Marketing Director for BACKPACKER and Climbing Magazines, two marquis brands in AIM’s Outdoor Group. Aufmann hails from Colorado-based media and public relations company Backbone Media, where she managed several brand budgets across print, online, mobile, social media, out-of-home, radio and special events.

Aufmann brings a rich and diverse mix of skills and past experience, along with a life-long passion for skiing, which was cultivated while working for the Aspen Skiing Company. Just prior to joining the team at AIM, Alex was an Account Executive with ACTIVEJUNKY.com, a digital brand specializing in outdoor gear, travel and fitness.

“At Backpacker and Climbing, we are consistently trying to differentiate our products for our clients,” said Sharon Houghton, Group Publisher for Backpacker and Climbing. “Our clients are partners and it’s critical that their investments are strategic and that they see the best return possible. Alex brings a focused approach as a seasoned media buyer, knowing what clients are looking for and being able to deliver premium 360-degree solutions is a tremendous asset for both our partners and the AIM brands.”

Alex is a dedicated skier, cyclist, foodie, and connoisseur of emerging technology, social media, and all things dog related.

Aufmann, herself, added: “I am stoked to join the AIM team during a time when its brands are carrying such great momentum in the outdoor industry. Backpacker & Climbing – are driven by its core outdoor values and an innovative vision, and the sky’s the limit as far as what we can offer to our partners.”

Active Interest Media outdoor group, is the industry’s leader for gear, education and adventure travel; it will rely heavily on Aufmann’s deep connection to the outdoor world to resonate with the leading and smaller outdoor brands, digital media, and content driven audience.
