Boulder, CO, July 18, 2014 – Active Interest Media today announced that Randy Propster has been promoted to manage sales and business development operations for the Outdoor Group’s trade publications, SNEWS and Outdoor Retailer Daily.

Previously, Propster had been co-director of Outdoor Group events with his wife, Sheri, and before that served with her as Backpacker’s Get Out More ambassadors. He will report to VP of Sales, Al Crolius, and work out of AIM’s headquarters in Boulder.

“I’m thrilled to leverage everything I’ve learned about the retail environment while working with store managers and manufacturers to deliver the Get Out More message,” said Propster. “Over the past seven years, I’ve personally visited more than 500 outdoor stores, and the first-hand interaction with customers and buyers will help me deliver effective solutions to our SNEWS partners.”

An avid outdoorsman, Propster credits his thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in1999 for guiding him into a career in which he can influence others to connect with the outdoors. Fresh off his A.T. adventure, he facilitated team-building exercises and experiential outdoor adventures for hundreds of U.S military personnel and their families. Randy’s passion for long-distance backpacking led him back to an ocean-to-ocean thru-hike of the American Discovery Trail in 2006. He then joined Backpacker’s Get Out More Tour, where he shared his expertise and enthusiasm with thousands of outdoor enthusiasts.

“Randy is brimming with ideas for how we can help retailers with their training and merchandising challenges, how we can help product makers engage SNEWS’s loyal subscriber base more effectively, and how we can create compelling mobile and event extensions,” said editor-in-chief Megan Mulligan. “I’m excited to introduce a partner with such strong grassroots experience as we walk the aisles of the Salt Palace together in two weeks.”
