Adventure Medical Kits (AMK), a leading global manufacturer of innovative first aid kits and survival gear, today announced the appointment of Simon Ashdown to the post of Director of Public Relations.
Ashdown’s appointment bolsters an already strong marketing team committed to educating consumers and outdoor enthusiasts alike on the importance of selecting trusted, activity-specific first aid kits, insect repellents and bite treatments, survival gear and hygiene items all designed to help the public have a more enjoyable outdoor experience.
Ashdown will be responsible for managing media relations for trade and consumer press, coordinating all trade show and event publicity (including the upcoming Outdoor Retailer and Shot Shows) and developing short- and long-term media strategies for Adventure Medical Kits and its parent company Tender Corporation’s roster of trusted products. He will be based in Toronto, Canada, and will report to AMK’s Marketing Director, Frank Meyer.

Ashdown was formerly principal at SkipTheIntro PR & Marketing, a Toronto-based PR firm, which he founded in 2003. While at SkipTheIntro he provided public relations counsel and services to a variety of leading consumer products companies including Bandai Canada Inc., Thinkway Toys Inc., GlaxoSmithKline and the Canadian division of Tender Corporation, among others. A decade of media experience under his belt, Ashdown also worked for several years as a reporter and editor at numerous business and marketing trade publications.
