RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA- Elevating an already strong relationship with the Breast Cancer Fund, co-founder and brand director Jacqueline Lenox of Ahnu Footwear today announced a new initiative to raise up to $100,000 in the Spring ‘11 season for the Breast Cancer Fund, the leading organization working to identify and eliminate the environmental causes of breast cancer.

For each pair of women’s Numentumâ„¢ performance shoes sold, Ahnu will donate $5 to the Breast Cancer Fund. When the new Spring ‘11 collection debuts at retail in January of 2011, every consumer purchasing Ahnu performance shoes will be joining Ahnu in its prevention mission.

“Protecting our bodies and the environment has always been a driving force at Ahnu, and building a long-term relationship with the Breast Cancer Fund to support its initiatives is a natural extension of our original mission,” said Lenox.

Ahnu’s prevention mission is tied to ten women’s performance styles featuring Numentumâ„¢ technology for Run, Hike and Traverse (outdoor cross training) categories. Numentumâ„¢ technology is a neutral positioning system engineered to encourage the foot’s natural biomechanics. “Our collection built on the Numentum platform allows women to participate fully in an active lifestyle and develop healthy habits,” said Lenox.

“The Breast Cancer Fund is proud to partner with Ahnu—a business committed to sustainability and to supporting breast cancer prevention,” said Julie Homan, Cause Marketing Manager for the Breast Cancer Fund.

Ahnu has already contributed more than $10,000 to the Breast Cancer Fund through the Plus 3 Network, social network that connects people with corporate sponsors and worthwhile causes on a lasting journey of personal fitness and charitable giving. Ahnu chose the Breast Cancer Fund as one of its causes last year, and expects to donate a total of $20,000 before the end of 2010.

In addition to the donation, a full-retail marketing program will support Ahnu’s prevention mission to include a gift-with-purchase Klean Kanteen, updated product packaging and Breast Cancer Fund informational booklets, in-store graphics and a national public relations and social media program.
