ROCK & ICE SPEAKER: “How Climbing Can Saves Kids Lives”

AIDS Climb-a-Thon Founder To Speak At Outdoor Retailer Climbing Wall At 2:00 pm on Friday, August 10

Salt Lake City, Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (June 6, 2007) – The founder of the word’s first climb-a-thon for African AIDS relief will present her story at on 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 10 at the Rock & Ice climbing area. Tanya Weaver, executive director, American
Foundation for Children with AIDS, is leading an ambitious project which calls on climbers and outdoor enthusiasts across the nation to raise pledges for climbs of all types on September 22/23, 2007.

Named “Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up”, the fundraiser will be held by American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA) and the American Alpine Institute, and will raise much-needed funds to send life-saving anti-retroviral (ARV) medication to children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
