Alex Boian Named Vice President of Government Affairs for Outdoor Industry Association

Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the trade association and voice for the outdoor recreation industry, is pleased to announce that Alex Boian has been promoted to vice president of government affairs. A member of the government affairs team at OIA for over 12 years, under Boian’s leadership the organization has expanded its policy portfolio from federal public lands, and tax and trade policy, to also include a state and local public lands program, regulatory issues, and a campaign to fight the immediate threat of climate change.
“The passion and enthusiasm that Alex brings to his role on the government affairs team is evident in the great achievements we’ve been able to make as an organization. From policy and business interests of the outdoor industry to focusing on federal public lands policy and tax and trade issues, Alex has overseen substantial strides made by the OIA,” said OIA Executive Director Amy Roberts. “We’re thrilled to see what’s next for the government affairs team under Alex’s leadership.”
As Vice President of Government Affairs, Alex oversees a team of five policy professionals in OIA’s Boulder, Colorado headquarters and in the Washington, D.C. office. He also serves as Treasurer of OIA’s Political Action Committee (OIAPAC).
“I have been fortunate to be at OIA and in the outdoor industry for more than 12 years. I have witnessed the industry’s rise as an economic and political powerhouse and it is an exciting and humbling opportunity to lead OIA’s government affairs department toward even greater things in our future,” states Boian.
A Colorado native, Alex was born and raised in Denver and now lives with his wife and three daughters in Erie. Together, they enjoy the outdoors by skiing, camping, kayaking, hiking and fishing.
