All Terrain Sunscreens Win Top Honors From Consumer Reports and EWG

SUNAPEE, NH. – All Terrain, the all-natural maker of sunscreen and other outdoor skin care products, surprised the sunscreen community by taking the top spot in the June report on Sunscreen’s in Consumer Reports, with its natural AquaSport SPF30 Lotion.

In its recent report called “Sunscreen for Safe Fun in the Sun,” Consumer Report’s tested All Terrain’s AquaSport SPF 30 and the lotion received the highest overall score and top marks for its UVB and UVB with Water protection and also received high marks for its UVA protection.

With a high score of 88 points, All Terrain’s rating was higher than larger, more well-known brands such as Bananna Boat, Coppertone and Hawaiin Tropic in the SPF 30 category.

Consumer Reports noted in its story that it used several testing techniques included that act of testing sunscreens on people – before and after immersion into fresh water – for up to 80 minutes.

At the same time, the Environmental Working Group, considered the leading advocacy group for protecting public health and the environment, has also released its 2012 Sunscreen Report and it has also awarded top scores to All Terrain’s TerraSport Face Stick Skin Protectant, SPF 28 as well as its KidSport Sunscreen Stick Skin Protectant, SPF 28.

Both of the products reviewed by EWG received a score of 1, a title of low hazard. This rating reflects its high efficacy and low level of concern posed by exposure to the ingredients in the product.

EWG notes that its top-rated sunscreens contain the minerals zinc or titanium. The report notes that they are the right choices for people who want the best UVA protection without any chemical considered to be a potential hormone disruptor.
