Tompkins to fill position left by Lance Camisasca last January2008
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – May 5, 2008 – Health+Fitness Business, a division of Nielsen Business Media, the parent company of the Interbike, Outdoor Retailer (OR), Action Sports Retailer (ASR) and Fly Fishing Retailer trade shows today announced Andy Tompkins has been appointed its show director. Tompkins will direct all aspects of the show’s sales and marketing efforts.
Tompkins has been with Nielsen Business Media’s Sports Group for more than 10 years in a variety of senior sales and show management positions, most recently as the show director for Action Sports Retailer (ASR), the leading action sports apparel, footwear, accessories and hard goods trade show in North America. Prior to that, Tompkins was show director for Nielsen owned Outdoor Retailer (OR), the leading outdoor sports trade shows and adjoining demos in the world.
“Andy is a consummate specialty sports trade show professional,†said Joe Flynn, vice president of marketing and business development for Nielsen Business Media’s Retail Group, HFB’s parent company. “He has a deep understanding of the sports retail and brand landscape, as well as the needs of exhibitors and specialty retailers as they participate in trade shows.â€
Tompkins fills the vacancy left by Lance Camisasca, who left HFB in January to form Lifeboat Solutions, an event management, sales and marketing firm.
Tomkins will work together with HFB Sales Manager Andria Klinger and Account Executive Brian McKavic to ensure that Health+Fitness Business Expo and Convention meets the business needs of show partners, attendees and exhibitors.
Effective immediately, Tompkins’ new title is Group Show Director for the ASR, Cycling and Fitness Groups. In addition to serving as show director for HFB, Tompkins has been tapped as show director for Interbike, the leading bicycle industry business-to-business trade only event. As Interbike’s show director, he will work with Camisasca, who is providing key industry input, and advocacy consulting services for that show. Tompkins will also continue to serve as show director for ASR.
This year’s edition of the Health+Fitness Business Expo and Convention is scheduled to take place July 17-18 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colo. The annual tradeshow gathers more than 175 fitness-related brands and approximately 3,000 industry professionals and decision makers.
