SANTA FE, New Mexico. (April 29, 2010) – Outside magazine, published by Mariah Media Inc., and Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA) announce a partnership to jointly produce the first annual Outside in Aspen, a participatory, adventure weekend in Aspen, scheduled for June 11 – 13, 2010. Aspen’s stunning setting will serve as venue for guided adventure activities for participants of all abilities. The weekend will also include parties, Outside editors and personalities, a symposium with celebrity athletes and the Outside Buyer’s Guide Gear Experience. Leave No Trace is the non-profit event beneficiary.

Eddie Bauer/First Ascent is the exclusive apparel sponsor of the event. A number of First Ascent athletes will be speaking at the event, including Melissa Arnot, Jesse Coombs and Jake Norton. Other celebrity athletes on hand include two-time World Champion free-skier Chris Davenport and Olympic Gold Medalist Tyler Hamilton.

Eddie Bauer/First Ascent will be donating gear for prizes to help raise funds for Leave No Trace. Additional prizes will be provided by Outside Buyer’s Guide 2010 Gear of the Year manufacturers.

“Outside is delighted to have this opportunity to bring the pages of the magazine to life in the spectacular setting for human-powered activities that Aspen provides,” said Christine Salem, Outside’s Strategic Planning Director. “Top Outside personalities and celebrity athletes will be on hand to gather with our readers for epic fun and adventure.”

“We can’t wait to get Outside in Aspen! This event and Outside Magazine complement the Eddie Bauer lifestyle in such a wonderful way. We are also excited to partner with Leave No Trace as the event’s charitable entity – they are a key partner for us,” said Doreen Jarman, PR Manager, Eddie Bauer.

Outside in Aspen participants can sign up for the half-day activities including kayaking, rafting, stand-up river paddling, road biking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, or rock climbing. Aspen Alpine Guides is also offering an advanced Road Biking Clinic with Tyler Hamilton Training, as well as special high-altitude trail running and hiking clinics with pro-endurance athletes.

Sponsors of Outside in Aspen include Eddie Bauer First Ascent, The Little Nell hotel, Kendall-Jackson Winery, Outside magazine, the City of Aspen, and Aspen Chamber Resort Association.
