OYSTER BAY, New York (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – Kathryn Doiron is heading south this winter. South to kayak in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez where she’ll paddle alongside whales, enjoy excellent bird viewing, beautiful sunsets and great food. And she’s going as the guest of Aquapac and Alaska Mountain Guides.
Why does she get to go? Because the publisher of KayakGearReviews.org was one of almost 300 people who visited the Aquapac booth at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show held in Salt Lake City in July and signed up to win the 6-day trip for two.
Doiron’s name was randomly picked from the (waterproof) bag of entrants into the promotion at a well-attended Aquapac party designed to raised brand awareness of the London-based company that makes 100% waterproof, 100% use-through cases that create a virtual second skin for electronics, photography equipment, maps, documents and other essential items.
“I was totally flabbergasted to hear my name being called out,” Doiron said. “I have been walking around with a stupid grin on my face for days now and it is almost the only thing I can think or talk about. My boyfriend and I are psyched up and can’t wait to kayak with the whales. This is an adventure of a lifetime, and we are thankful to Aquapac and Alaska Mountain Guides for giving us this adventure.”
Alaska Mountain Guides is providing the sea-kayaking trip in the whale-breeding lagoons of Magdalena Bay in Baja, Mexico, where Doiron and her guest will frolic among gray whales and dolphins. Doiron will get to bring some waterproof Aquapac gear along , too, always a necessity when kayaking.
“We’re thrilled, honestly, that Kathryn is thrilled,” said Aquapac CEO Tim Turnbull, who also awarded five signed prints from nature photographer Daniel Fox at the Outdoor Retailer party. “Alaska Mountain Guides has proved to be a tremendous partner in this endeavor and we’re impressed with the number of people who stopped by our booth and entered.”
At the Outdoor Retailer Show, Aquapac also unveiled three new products, including a waterproof backpack that Doiron will be taking along on her trip.
