OYSTER BAY, New York – A few quick moments to promise a legacy of responsible outdoor use will land somebody at the 2009 Summer Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City a sea-kayaking trip of a lifetime.
Aquapac (Booth #39139) has teamed up with Alaska Mountain Guides to offer a whale-watching/sea kayaking trip for two to Baja. To enter the raffle drawing for the trip, attendees at Outdoor Retailer in July need only to fill out the Aquapac Pledge form, which simply states they’ll strive to uphold an elevated outdoor ethic.
The pledge is easy:
“I promise to be a caretaker of wild places.
I will blend recreation with conservation.
I promise to leave the outdoors a better place.”
The winning is even easier. During a cocktail party (free beer!) on Thursday (July 23) afternoon, the name of the grand-prize winner will be picked from those who took the Aquapac Pledge. Five other winners will be drawn, too, for framed prints from noted wildlife photographer Daniel Fox.
Alaska Mountain Guides is providing a 6-day sea kayaking trip in the Sea of Cortez in 2010, where paddlers will frolic among spawning gray whales. The winners will enjoy opportunities for up close and personal whale encounters, great sea kayaking, excellent bird viewing, beautiful sunsets, and great food at a remote base camp on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
Those who take the Aquapac Pledge should attend the British-themed cocktail party being held Thursday, July 23, from 4-6 p.m. in the Aquapac booth (#39139). The drawing for the Alaska Mountain Guides Baja paddling trip and five framed Wildlife Image Prints will be held at 5 p.m. Winners must be present to claim their prizes. Airfare to La Paz, alcoholic beverages in town, personal items and gratuities to the crew is not included. (Terms and conditions here.)
