(Vancouver BC) – Outerwear manufacturer and retailer Arc’teryx Equipment Inc. today announced that it continues to bolster its Product Design team with the hiring of John Atkinson as Hardgoods Design Manager.

In this role, John will work closely with Arc’teryx’s Line Managers and Design Directors to establish seasonal and long-term development plans. Under his leadership, John and his team will also be responsible for bringing all Arc’teryx hardgoods products to market.

John has over 30 years of industrial design experience in outdoor equipment, electrical goods and industrial plastics. Prior to joining Arc’teryx, John worked various design roles at Kathmandu and Macpac.

“When I started designing backpacks, Arc’teryx was the brand to watch. They demonstrated the pinnacle of design and technical excellence and their offering was always an inspiration. To find myself working here now and having the opportunity to contribute as part of the team, is an incredible feeling,” said Atkinson.

“John has solid and proven experience managing a similar sized design team, and he’s spent many nights in his sleeping bag pondering gear. His high expectations, strong work ethic and friendly nature are a great fit for us,” commented Dan Green, Director of Equipment Design at Arc’teryx.
