ARC’TERYX, the technical leader in outdoor performance apparel and equipment, is proud to announce it has signed the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition (OIWC) CEO Pledge, committing to increasing the number of women in leadership positions.

Joining other big names in the industry, Arc’teryx took the opportunity to become part of this movement at a time when the company was also highlighting women’s career development as a key business initiative.

We strive to create a supportive culture where women can achieve their full potential. Arc’teryx aims to support women through strong training and mentoring programs and we will improve support for all employees with families to optimize recruitment and long term retention, ” said Vincent Wauters, General Manager and President of Arc’teryx.

The company’s commitment to the OIWC reflects the importance of fostering and mentoring women as their careers progress into higher leadership positions. This is part of a larger initiative including: women’s cross functional strategic business program; Ipsos Reid research; and consumer engagement through campaigns such as #defineFeminine. The aim is to see more women advance to positions at the higher managerial level.

Culture starts at the top. Deanne Buck, executive director of the OIWC, noted that “Research indicates that a CEO’s visible and emotional commitment to women’s leadership is the first, and most important, pillar in creating the ideal gender-diversity ecosystem. One of the biggest challenges that faces outdoor companies and the industry as a whole, said Buck, “is attracting, retaining and elevating employees, particularly women, with specialized skills who understand the consumer. By signing the CEO Pledge, Arc’teryx is making this a visible priority and we’ll be stronger and more innovative as an industry for it.”

Arc’teryx will have HR personnel on site for the duration of the show to promote their current open positions within the company. Interested parties should make an appointment with Laura Appleton – Talent Acquisition and Development Manager at booth 1019 – Laura.appleton@arcteryx.com
